I first remember making art, standing in the backyard with my easel and painter overalls. I was only 5, but I knew I wanted to be an artist. My mind was already made up. Just like I decided to become a vegetarian, this was a pivotal year for me. I loved playing the piano, singing, ballet, going to museums and basically anything creative.
Early in my career, I started out designing music packaging for major bands working in a small design studio. I loved the energy and the variety of it, but I found myself always adding illustration to the album art. I was faced with two options, stay where I was comfortable, or jump out into the world and start my own business, where anything could be possible. I chose to be brave and try something new. It was terrifying and exhilarating. Soon after quitting my job, I launched my greeting card line Paper Loop and debuted it at the National Stationery Show in New York with my now husband. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience!
I continue to grow my card line, while taking on freelance illustration jobs. I love the variety of projects and clients that it brings such as Macy’s, Major League Baseball and Windham Fabrics, to name a few. Seeing my art displayed on surfboards hanging in Billabong stores was a pretty thrilling day. After designing a California map as a personal project, I was hired to do a travel editorial illustration series with Better Homes & Garden which was also a great experience. People continued to request my maps, and I have really found my style because of that!
Now my life is a balance between making art and spending time with my family. Becoming a Mom has been the most amazing experience I’ve ever had. My son has brought me so much joy and inspires me to be the best artist I can be. I can see so much of him in me, and I want to show him that anything is possible!
My Etsy shop is a place where I can share my love of illustration, stationery and geography with you. My maps are designed by painting lots of little icons and then designing them just so on each state. I’m currently painting my way across the US in watercolor! My cards are inspired by my love of animals and nature, printed on soy ink to be environmentally friendly. I love sending cards because it’s a great way to stay in touch with the people you love! Your support of my art is greatly appreciated and inspires me to keep creating.
I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
