I also did a brighter version of the hummingbird because I loved him so much:

May has been one of the busiest months ever! I've completed a lot of client projects and also a lot of class assignments! I've been taking The Ultimate Portfolio Builder with Rachael Taylor. It's a great class packed full of information. It really pushed me to keep on making new work! Here are some new designs I've made for this class:
In addition to Rachael's class, I've also been taking Make Art That Sells Home Decor with Lilla Rogers and Margo Tantau. It's another great class packed with info! I'm having a lot of fun with it and am enjoying exploring paintings for products. Here are my recent boards:
This is my second time taking the home decor class and I'm really glad I took it again. I'm finding it easier the second time around while still learning a lot. It's quite addictive once you start adding your designs to products! I really like the endless possibilities I see in this market. So much fun!
Stay warm this season, don't forget your scarf!
Wishing you peace and happy holidays!

Ok, I'll admit it. I have a bit of an apple obsession. I eat one almost every day. I crave them and there's nothing more delicious than an apple pie during the holiday season! I found this recipe from the Minimalist Baker which looks amazing. I've illustrated a poster for apple pie crumble as some holiday inspiration for you! You can decorate your kitchen with my artwork here.
I've also made a pattern collection inspired by apple pie. This collection is available for art licensing. Contact me for inquiries!
I've been working on some holiday patterns for my new art licensing collection called Whimsical Winter. Here are some of my favorites.
This week I turned in my assignment for GTS: The Global Talent Search where hundreds of artists compete to be represented by Lilla Rogers. The character Antoinette that the assignment was based on is very young, energetic and chic. When reading through the assignment, I imagined that dragonflies would be flying over Brooklyn as Antoinette bicycled through the city. I think she would like to wear shoes with this pattern. I hope you like it!
To start the creative process, I started with a trip to Venice Beach for some breakfast, shopping and inspiration! I took tons of pictures and filled up my sketchbook with ideas.
There is a great video by Marie Forleo explaining the creative process and how to find your voice as a creative person. You start off excited with a big idea and then it gets a big dark and murky before you come on out the other side with something you like. This is what happened to me especially with this project. Initially, I was working in lots of colors, then narrowed it down to blues, greens and browns but at the end I had this last minute idea to tone it down even further to just blues. That's when I felt my assignment turned out of the dark, murky corner and into sunlight again!
Here is a coordinate pattern I made which has a nice dragonfly nighttime feel.
